Website Tips

Here are some tips to take into consideration when creating a website.

1. Origonality
A big part of being a wemaster/webmistress is being origonal and creative. Web designing isn't about being the best, but being your best. No one is going to respect a webmaster/mistress that only offers knock offs of other peoples work. Also, no one wants to see their content on someone elses site. Be original and try to create somthing that no one else has. Try to out do yourself by upgrading and always pushing yourself to try new things.

2. Hits
Believe it or not, making a website isn't about hits. When a person goes to a site and sees somthing like: "Please comment on my site! I'm going to close my site if I don't start getting hits and comments!" they don't think about what a great webmaster/mistress the owner must be. They leave because they don't like feeling pushed into visiting and commenting on the site. Don't beg out in the open on your site.

My motto is: Get hits behind the scenes.
Don't get hits by begging for them. Do everything behind the scenes. Sign up for link exchanges. Sign up to be affiliates with sites and comment on sites. In the end, this is what will make your site known.

3. Content
A site really does need a lot of content to keep it's visitors busy. Content that I think every website should be equipped with is: Me Section, You Section, and an Exit Section. Other things you can offer are tutorials, reads, and paid services.

4. Layout
When you make a site the layout is the first thing your visitors see. You want it to catch their attention and draw them in. When making a layout you have to make sure it is organized and coded correctly. You don't want to have a background that's blue and tect that is light blue. For some, it would be hard to read. Make sure your CSS matches.

Also, when you first open a website and you are a biginner graphic designer, start small. If you try to go all out on your first try, your visitors are going to know that you don't know what your doing. Star small and work your way out as you learn how to code and graphic design.

5. Organize
Make sure everything on your site is organized into it's own catagories and pages. No one wants to sift through the content on a site to find what they are looking for. All content should be easy to locate in an organized fashion. Don't be stingy with pages. Don't be afraid to make a new page for somthing if the page is getting to lon. Also, don't get crazy. Make sure you don't have any broken links or images.

6. Bloggers
If you are planning on blogging, there are a few things you should so.

That's about all the tips I can give you!
