Here's a sample of what this tutorial will halp you make:
Step 1: Go to "File >> New" and make a new canvas that's 100 by 100.
Step 2: Go to your color pallette and pick the darker color you want your gradient to be (for me it was dark blue) and fill the entire canvas with it.
Step 3: Slect the freehand selection tool by clicking on the arrow next to the selection tool and clicking on it.

Step 4: Now, useing the freehand selection tool, select the bottem corner of the icon by selecting the right and bottom sides and going diagnolly down the middle. Here's what your selection should look like:
Step 5: Now, fill your selection with a lighter shade of the base color (that would be light blue for me). So now what you have should look something like this:
Step 6: Now, unselect the light portion, go up to your color pallette and duplicate your background layer.
Step 7: Now with your duplicated layer selected, go to "Adjust >> Blur >> Gaussian Blur". Set the Radius to 30.
Merge all layers and there you go. You should have an icon gradient that looks like the one below!
