I'm going to be using thie graphic below to make my transparent blog:
Step 1: First, go to Layers >> New Raster Layer. Now a box should pop up with the title "New Raster Layer". Just press OK without changing any options.
Step 2: Now go to the shape tool and make sure it's on square. Also, make sure your colors are both white. Now draw a square onto the middle the graphic. You should end up with this:
Step 3: Now got to Layers >> Properties . You will be able to see an option called Opacity. Bring this option down to 50.
Step 4: Click OK. Now go to Layers >> Merge >> Merge All (Flatten).
There you have it. You should end up with this:
